About the Medicare Enrollment Window Checker

The Medicare Enrollment Window Checker is a free tool that answers one narrow, important question: what are my exact Medicare sign-up dates? Enter a date of birth, say whether you are still working with employer health coverage, and the tool returns your 7-month Initial Enrollment Period, the earliest date your coverage can begin, the Part B Special Enrollment Period when one applies, and the General Enrollment fallback. It also previews the published late-enrollment penalty formulas in dollars and lets you download the deadlines to your calendar. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cost.

What this tool does, and what it deliberately does not do

This is a date calculator. It performs arithmetic on the published Medicare enrollment-period rules and the published penalty formulas, and it does nothing else. It does not recommend a plan, does not mention or compare insurers, does not rank Medicare Advantage or Part D options, and does not collect any lead information. We made that boundary deliberately. The internet is full of Medicare sites whose real purpose is to route you to a sales call; this one exists only to get your dates right so you do not miss a deadline. Everything runs in your browser, and the same tested logic that produces your dates is the logic documented in our guides.

Accuracy and sources

The rules encoded here follow the enrollment-period definitions published by Medicare and the Social Security Administration: the seven-month Initial Enrollment Period, the first-of-the-month birthday rule, the eight-month Part B Special Enrollment Period for people with current-employment group coverage, the January-to-March General Enrollment Period, and the 10 percent per year and 1 percent per month penalty formulas. Premium figures used in the penalty previews are refreshed from the official cost pages and labelled with their year. Even so, individual situations have exceptions this tool cannot know about, so it is built to send you to confirm: every page points you to Medicare.gov and the Social Security Administration for your specific case.

Privacy

The checker runs entirely in your browser. Your date of birth and the dates it produces never leave your device, nothing you enter is stored on a server, and the calendar file is generated locally on your computer. The full details are on the privacy policy page.
